Call for Nominations to the Board of Directors
Notice is hereby given that nominations to the MANITOBA BRAIN INJURY ASSOCIATION
Board of Directors are officially open. Nominations to the board of directors from Manitoba Brain Injury Association are being sought. Directors are elected by the organization’s membership and directors serve a three (3) year term. All nominations require the consent of the nominee and two (2) signatures of the nominators.
MBIA is seeking five (5) nominees to the Board of Directors. Directors are expected to serve a full three-year term and are permitted to serve a maximum of three consecutive 3-year terms.

- The Board shall consist of the following persons:
The immediate Past President of the Corporation; and
Further members of the Corporation as provided in paragraph 9, one third of whom shall be elected to the Board at each annual meeting of the Corporation to hold office for a term of three (3) years.
- The President as Chair of the Nominating Committee shall select a Nominating Committee at least eight weeks prior to the date of the annual meeting of the Corporation, with their recommendation regarding a slate of members to be elected to the Board at the ensuing annual meeting.
Other nominations may be made by notice in writing, signed by at least two (2) members in good standing with the Corporation, for each proposed additional nomination.
The Nominating Committee shall report at the annual meeting on its nominations duly made and received. Where the number of nominees is less than or equal to the available positions on the Board of Directors, the list of nominees shall be ratified by a show of hands. Where the number of nominees is greater than the number of available vacancies, a ballot including the names of all nominees shall be circulated to the members present and a vote by secret ballot shall be conducted. The nominees receiving the largest number of votes shall be declared elected.
The Nominating Committee Chairman and the President shall count the votes and ties shall be broken by a second and subsequent ballot as necessary. Nominees shall be entitled to appoint a scrutineer to observe the ballot count.
- The Nominating Committee must ensure that brain injury survivors, spouses, and/or family members are represented on the Board.
Nominations will close at 4:30 pm, Wednesday September 16, 2020.
After this time, no further nominations will be accepted.
